True Bethel Baptist Church Raises Thousands For Fire Victims

BUFFALO, NY - Thursday night the community came together at True Bethel Baptist Church to help raise money for a family that lost their one year old child to a house fire.

Church goers were happy to help this family that doesn't even attend the church because they believe community is most important. Pastor Craig Pridgeon says, "What we have learned at this church is anyone in need in the community, we are all family, the bible teaches us our neighbor is anyone that lives with you, and we make sure to take care of members of the community when their are tragedies."

Pastor Pridgeon also told 2 On Your Side the church will provide one full week of food and clothing to the family.

With hundreds of people at Thursday night's service, they were able to raise a total of just over seven thousand dollars for the family.

Buffalo Firefighters pulled the baby girl out of the burning home, but despite their heroic efforts, the child died a short time later at the Erie County Medical Center.

The call came out around 10 a.m. for 102 Shepard Street, just off of Broadway. Crews were notified immediately that there was a child still trapped inside.

The cause of the fire is still not known at this time.

This is what we were put her for!!! God bless this ministry!!!
