So....in trying to secure all the scholarship dollars that we can, I have encouraged Clarke to join the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp (AFROTC). In its simplest form, the Air Force pays for you to go to college, and then you owe them anywhere from 4 years to 10 years of service upon graduation. Again, not a bad deal. Capt. Summy was telling me the hows and whens and what to dos of ROTC as well as the Air Force. I have to admit that I am a bit jealous. Can you imagine being college educated, and officer in the Air Force traveling all over the globe all at the age of 22???? She wants to be a Public Affairs Officer - essentially PR for the Air Force. I told her that this is good, because the connections that she makes while in the service are hers to keep and she can use them when she is looking for a Director of Communications position in a fortune 500 company when she is 26. Yeah....this is quite the stepping stone!!!! Now again, this is me speaking and seeing this future. I'm sure that her 17 year old perception is far from this. But that is the role of a parent....to gently guide and direct and make sure that she doesn't miss any opportunities in what promises to be a very exciting life!!! Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV)
Pray for her that she becomes all that God has destined her to be!!!!
