Harvest Temple Church of God in Christ collected 147 wigs throughout the month of January to donate to the American Cancer Society.
After seeing cancer patients on television losing hair the Harvest Temple Church of God in Christ decided they wanted to help and bring happiness to others. The wigs have been collected mostly from church members and the community.
Pastor Ted Scott said, “Our church is heavily involved in mission work and this is a beginning stage for our church we plan to continue doing this in the future.”
Cancer does not have to take away a woman’s self-confidence. The American Cancer Society has a wig and breast prosthesis boutique for women undergoing chemo treatment, as well as a support groups. In addition, the American Cancer Society offers Look Good… Feel Better to patients undergoing active treatment, which is a free program that teaches beauty techniques as a way to help them cope with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
The American Cancer Society saves lives and creates more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. To learn more, or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
